Brief overview of the history of Land Rover…
After Series 1, Series 2 was introduced in 1958. Series 2 included the iconic design elements that shaped the Defender, which we know and love today. This silhouette is clearly visible in all Defenders as well as in new designs.
Series 2 attracted attention with its subtle body structure changes and engine options.
Series 1‘s petrol engine option had a capacity of 1595cc and an output of 50 horsepower; while in Series 2, it was increased to a capacity of 2286cc and an output of 77 horsepower, almost doubling the power by nearly 50%, providing a significant boost in performance. This enhanced engine option that enthusiasts eagerly awaited was released until the mid-198s and received great acclaim from fans.
In 1961, with Series A2, a diesel engine option with a capacity of 2286cc and an output of 62 horsepower was introduced. This allowed Land Rover to appeal to an expanding user base.
