Brief overview of the history of Land Rover…

DEFENDER FAREWELL SERIES

The Euro 6 regulation, which came into force in the European Union in 2015 to make diesel cars as clean as gasoline cars, was one of the biggest factors in discontinuing the production of the Defender model.

As of 2015, Defender has offered 3 different models to the market under the name of Veda Series. The first of these is the Autobiography Edition version, focused on performance, comfort and especially luxury. In this version, dual color paint on the bodywork, puma type torpedo, dual color high quality Windsor leather on the seats and interior upholstery, LED headlight system in lighting, metal rims aluminum door handles, 16 inch glossy black alloys are used. In addition, there was a 30HP performance increase in engine power.

Only 80 units of the Autobiography Edition, which Land Rover produced in limited numbers for users who desire the highest level in terms of design and performance and who cannot give up their passion for adventure, were sold in the UK.

The second model, inspired by Land Rover’s past models and combining nostalgic design with comfort and design, is the Heritage Edition version. This model was produced with a green body and a white roof and the HUE166 badge, which was the license plate of the first Land Rover was also placed on the body of the vehicle. Among the Land Rover Defender Heritage innovations, in addition to the silver front bumper, transparent instrument windows and Indus Silver door hinges make this version different from others.  Numerous modern comfort and luxury finishes have been applied to the interior. Cloth seat upholstery is Almond Resolve, steering wheel and gear knob are in perforated leather; ventilation covers, door handles and locks are detailed with bright aluminum coating. Only 400 units of this version were produced.

The last model is the Adventure Edition version designed for customers who want to explore. In order to improve Defender’s impressive off-road features, this series is produced with side steps and new underbody protection for the engine crankcase; it is offered to the market in 3 eye-catching color options: grey, white and orange. In this version, body models were produced as 90 Hard Top, 90 Station Wagon, 110 Utility Wagon and 110 Station Wagon. Premium doors and seats upholstered in Windsor leather, leather-covered steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake and interior details are completed with shiny aluminum.

Among these 3 models, the most produced vehicle was the Adventure Edition version with 600 units.

With these special series, Defender has been successful in both preserving its classic design lines and meeting modern needs. While each version appeals to different user expectations, it has gained a unique place in the automotive world by combining Land Rover’s deep-rooted heritage and innovative approach.

The new Defender was introduced to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019. While the spirit of the classic Defender is preserved in the new Defender, modern engineering and design understanding are combined.
